Australian Nationals Day 2 Report

Day 2 saw another 3 races held. The first race (race 4) of 2 laps was held in 6-8 knots which at times dropped to 4 then the wind swung necessitating a course alteration. Glenn Ashby led for most of the race to record his 3rd win of the series from Chris Cairns, Steve Brewin, Graeme Harbour, Steve Brayshaw and Dave Brewer.

Race 5 of 3 laps was started in 6-7 knots building to 10 knots which allowed the leaders to trapeze downwind. Steve Brewin had the best of the conditions to record his second win from Steve Brayshaw, Glenn Ashby, Jack Benson, Dave Brewer.

Race 6 of 3 laps held in 9-10 knots of fever constant breeze. Once again the leaders where trapezing downwind but there were a number of changes in the leadership. First gate Brayshaw from Brewin, Ashby, Benson, Brewer. Second gate Brewin, Brayshaw,Benson,Ashby, Brewer. Final positions saw an easy win to Steve Brewin with Glenn Ashby charging through to second from Brayshaw, Benson, Brewer.

Full provisional results to be posted later. After 1 drop Glenn Ashby leads on 7 points followed by Brewin on 8 points, Benson 19, Brayshaw 21, Adam Beattie 27, Brewer 29.

Tomorrow is a lay day and the weather forecast is for heavy wind. Next racing day will be Thursday 2nd Jan.
