2013 Darwin Nationals all wrapped up

Congratulations to Jack Benson who returned home from Europe in time for the first race (although tired and weary).

The racing went down to the 12th race before Jack finally won from Dave Brewer on a count back with 5 wins to 4. Other heat winners were Wayne Mercer, Dave Parker and Graeme Parker. The racing was tight and most races were won by less than 10 seconds.

Thanks for the support from all members who made the trip. From all accounts those present all had a great time and enjoyed the warm waters and wind. The social program was intense with tons of food and grog available. Many thanks to our sponsors who allowed this to happen. Also thanks to Dario from Carbonicboats for the great trophies. See attached photo (winners are grinners).

The trial of running 12 races in a slightly shorter format was well received. This also allowed 2 drops.

Now is time to think of the program for this coming summer.

The Victorian Titles will be held over the Melbourne Cup Long Weekend in November 2-4 2013. Elwood Y.C. will host this event.

The Nationals will be held at St. Leonards, Victoria from Dec 28th 2013 to Jan 3rd 2014.

The 2014 Worlds will be held in Auckland N.Z. from the 5th-16th February. More information on http://a-class.org.nz/

Please note registration for these Worlds is required by 1st October 2013. Please let me know if you are thinking of going as payment will need to be made to AIADCA and then we will do a bulk transfer to NZ organisation.

We are currently getting quotes for the containers and expect to load them immediately after the St. Leonards Nationals. We are also negotiating with the NZ organisation and Mastermann insurance for International Insurance cover. More details will be sent as these come to hand.
