Welcome to a new season of A-Class sailing in Queensland. Whilst many of us have been getting fat and lazy, a few members attended the recent Worlds in Denmark and congratulations to all the Australians that filled most of the top ten places. In fact if you class Ben Moon as Australian we filled 7 out of the top 8 positions. I am sure most of you were watching the coverage with interest. Special congratulations to QLD and (almost Qld) entries Brad (5th) and Landry (4th). All this means we all have a great benchmark when competing locally !!
I have recently sent an email to all memebers in QLD for this years SE QLD CHAMPIONSHIP. It will be a travellers series consisting of 6-7 events of which the first 4 prior to Christmas are confirmed. It will culminate at next years state championships so even more reason to attend. The first regatta is the Humpybash at HYC on 24 & 25th September. This will be followed by regatta at Tin Can Bay YC on 15/16th October, Cat Challenge at LCSC on 5/6th November, and short coarse racing regatta at Grafton on 26/27th November. All good practice for nationals starting 2/1/2012 to 7/1/2012 at Wangi on Lake Macquarie. We are offering ‘double points’ for the regattas are bit further from Brisbane to encourage all of us to support these areas as they have A-Class members that normally travel to support our Brisbane regatta’s.
I will soon confirm that the state titles will be held at Hervey Bay SC at Easter 2012, and they have assured me it will be a moderate SE winds with flat water !!
Look forward to seeing you all at the Humpybash in a few weeks and any questions or queries please don’t hesitate to call or email.
